CLASS WILL NOT MEET Wednesday 11/6 and Monday 11/11.
Assignments due 11/13
1) RESEARCH
webisodes (see examples on blog) & begin writing your own:
•Pick ONE of your favorite webisodes, watch as many episodes
as you can and analyze the form and structure and answer the following:
What
is the story?
What is the target audience for the
series?
Define the conflict(s)? Overall and
individual episodes?
What is the linking device between
episodes, i.e. what draws the audience to the next episode?
Describe the genre of the webisode.
Can you find the 3 act structure in
each episode? If not, what is the
structure?
How do episodes begin and end? How
long is each episode?
Are characters clear? What are
their objectives?
What is the style of writing of this
webisode? How do the visuals and audio elements match or not match the style?
How does this webisode compare to
TV and/or movies?
•Post a link to your selected webisode on the class blog (in comments section in this post) and
be prepared to show your episode in class and discuss the analysis. A hard
copy of this analysis is due in class Wed 11/13.
•Choose one of your story concepts and write an outline in
webisode form and write ONE episode
of your webisode. A hard copy of this outline and first episode is due in
class Wed 11/13.
2) Continue writing/polishing
the scripts we have been working on. Complete the FIRST ACT, in master scene
format, due in class 11/13. You may turn this assignment in via google
drive OR a hard copy.
3) READ the
script, JUNO. As you read this, begin to think about story “beats.” We will be
discussing this in class, with an analysis of the story beats due Monday 11/18.
